Overview
Full‑time permanent School Inclusion Lead within the new School Inclusion Service from Autumn 2026 following the recent Education Directorate Review.
The primary focus is to ensure children achieve positive outcomes by accessing an education appropriate to meet their needs, providing the right support in the right place at the right time.
Key Responsibilities
- Influence and lead strategic and operational developments at system level and whole school / Trust level.
- Support education settings to support children with additional needs, taking early action to address emerging issues and meeting statutory duties.
- Support and challenge education settings to make effective use of resources and funding, ensuring the needs of vulnerable children are understood and met.
- Lead and influence managers, senior leaders, and teams across GCC and with wider partners.
- Lead portfolios, including the portfolio for Youth Justice and vulnerable cohorts, coordinating with education settings, GCC’s Youth Justice Team, Police, Social Care, Virtual School, Education Safeguarding, and other partners.
- Exercise strategic and operational responsibility for statutory oversight & compliance, system development, and core partnership working across the service.
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified teacher with significant senior and strategic level experience in teaching and working within an education setting.
- Experience providing effective inclusion support and challenge at both strategic and operational levels to senior leaders.
- Credibility to provide leadership across contexts and build relationships with schools and Trusts at senior level.
- Meet essential education & qualifications criteria.
- Experience, knowledge, skills, understanding and behavioural attributes as outlined in the job profile.
- Enhanced DBS clearance and safeguarding references; usual references required.
- Vehicle access and valid full UK driving licence due to extensive travel, including evenings and weekends.
- Fluent English required to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role.
