Equans is looking for an Operations Manager to join our team at North Middlesex University Hospital on a permanent basis. This is a full‑time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
The purpose of the role is to be responsible for contractual performance through the management of a designated facilities service, ensuring a high level of service is carried out in accordance with the contract specification and company procedures. To manage all associated subcontractors in accordance with company procedures and ensure that activities comply with client protocols.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in hard FM, an electrical bias and excellent management abilities.
What will you deliver?
- Responsible for the delivery of services to the highest standard, ensuring the effective management of staff, the provision of excellent customer service and compliance with contract and company requirements
- Responsible for the effective management of contractual performance, including the incurrence of financial penalties, to ensure that all services are delivered to the contract specification and that all changes, developments and additional services are recorded accordingly with the commercial activity of the contract
- Exercise financial and commercial controls in the management of expenditure and income within agreed budgets, maximise profitability of operations and deliver ongoing cost savings
- Assist in the formulation of budgets, business plans and departmental strategies to meet the demands of service provision and continuous improvement
- Effectively manage all HR related issues for staff, liaising with the contract’s HR Manager to ensure all issues are dealt with in accordance with company procedures and timescales, including probationary and performance reviews, absence, disciplinary, and performance management appraisals
- Lead and manage service delivery and customer contact, ensuring the provision of the highest impressions of quality, customer care, proactivity and professionalism to our customer/clients and staff
- Manage all associated subcontracted services, ensuring subcontractors are able to carry out their duties safely and timely, and that work is contractually compliant. Complete all associated paperwork and conduct regular service review meetings
- Submit quotations, estimates and tenders for additional work as requested and be responsible for the preparation, accuracy and processing of all accounts following completion of projects/events, in accordance with company guidelines and procedures
- Ensure all equipment is checked as safe before use and any defects are reported immediately; ensure maintenance schedules are carried out
- Ensure compliance with COSHH and Risk Assessment records and all associated health and safety documentation, ensuring industry legislation and company quality systems are adhered to and that these areas are effectively managed at all times

Who are we looking for?
- Proven background in Facilities Management
- Proven track record working in Healthcare (desirable)
- Previous experience with PFI
- Electrical bias
- Understanding of Local Authority legislation
- High level of verbal, written and numeric skills and must be computer literate
- Must be able to work with all stakeholders and operational staff, be self‑motivating, able to work on own initiative, liaise and delegate effectively in a multi‑disciplinary environment
- DBS Basic check – ability to pass is essential
