Overview
Derby Museums is an independent charity that cares for more than 300,000 objects on behalf of Derby City Council, including fine and decorative art, archaeology, natural history, science, technology, military history, and social history. The collections include internationally important paintings of Joseph Wright of Derby and are designated by Arts Council England as of outstanding national significance. They inspire hundreds of thousands of people annually and support research, learning and exhibitions across the UK and beyond.
Summary
This is a rare opportunity to lead one of the UK’s most significant museum collections relocation projects.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will lead the planning and delivery of the relocation of the collections into new storage facilities. Working jointly with Derby City Council, the Project Manager will oversee complex logistics, develop future‑proof storage solutions, manage specialist contractors and multidisciplinary teams, and ensure our collections are protected and accessible for generations to come.
Qualifications
Applicants should be an accomplished project manager with experience of museum collections and relish delivering ambitious, high‑profile projects with lasting public impact.
