The Team
We are looking to hire a Senior Professional Test Lead within the Actuarial Systems Team (AST) at Pacific Life Re. The team supports global actuarial functions and works closely with the wider business to adopt emerging technologies. The Role involves improving the actuarial systems workflow, including calculation accuracy, process automation and system performance, through design, implementation and testing of process, modelling and infrastructure improvements.
Responsibilities
- Support the model development team and business consumers by maintaining and enhancing a robust set of testing tools and processes, and performing and evidencing a rigorous regime of functional and non‑functional model testing.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with all key users and stakeholders.
- Provide oversight and management of junior team members, supporting and monitoring their development needs.
- Identify and prioritise high‑value outcomes against competing priorities and within time/resource/design constraints.
- Conduct independent peer reviews and challenge across all AST activities.
- Proactively contribute to general AST activities and various strategic objectives and focus areas beyond day‑to‑day tasks.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified or nearly‑qualified actuary with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in life insurance or life reinsurance.
- Experience with Prophet, RiskAgility FM, Tyche or similar modelling platforms, including an understanding of their benefits and limitations.
- Experience with Atlassian suite, including Zephyr, or other test management applications.
- Knowledge of Life, CI, IP and Annuity/Longevity insurance products and the actuarial concepts underpinning core model calculations.
- Demonstrable interest in long‑term actuarial modelling/testing role.
- Advanced understanding of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to build and manage relationships with stakeholders in Actuarial and non‑Actuarial teams.
- Forward‑looking ability to anticipate future needs.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to plan and prioritise workloads and deliver to deadlines.
- Coaching experience and ability to manage across multiple locations and time zones.
- Track record of challenging and enhancing processes, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Experience overseeing change and the introduction of new processes, controls and systems.
