Job Description:

Responsibilities

To expertly handle gas suppression installation contracts from initial enquiry through to final accounts. Assume full financial control of projects, delivering the works efficiently and profitably, including responsibility for raising purchase and subcontract orders. Effectively manage the installation work on site; attending regular client meetings; having responsibility for health and safety; producing progress updates and reports; and completion of project quality assurance checks. Prepare and communicate detailed programmes of work to ensure deadlines and contract requirements are met. Liaise with suppliers, design, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery and information flow, and accurately report to clients, contractors and governing bodies as necessary. Negotiate, monitor, and produce quotations for contract variations. Highlight possible problem areas at the earliest opportunity and obtain commercial advice where necessary. Prepare technical reports and submittals including operating and maintenance manuals and handover documents, by collating and presenting relevant information. Identify and report deviations or nonconformities from scope, Standards or contract. Any other duties commensurate with the role.

Qualifications

  • GCSE in Maths and English – Essential
  • Mechanical engineering qualification – Desirable
  • NVQ Level 6 in Construction Management – Essential
  • CSCS Construction Skills Card – Essential
  • Health and Safety Qualification (IOSH, SMSTS, etc.) – Desirable

Experience

  • Experience of construction project engineering or management – Essential
  • Experience within gas suppression project engineering or management – Desirable
  • Knowledge of current relevant suppression British Standards and Regulations, notably BS EN 15004 Series – Desirable
  • Knowledge of gas suppression equipment and installation – Desirable

Skills / Abilities

  • Ability to manage client and management expectations – Essential
  • Ability to confidently deal with difficult and stressful situations – Essential
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills – Essential
  • Competent using Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel, Outlook, Project and PowerPoint – Essential
  • A keen eye for detail – Essential
  • Proven track record of project financial control – Essential
  • The ability to maintain accurate records – Essential
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise workload – Essential
  • Read and understand engineering drawings, layouts, and plans – Essential
