Welder Fabricator

Spider is advertising on behalf of a family-focused engineering and manufacturing business serving customers across a range of commercial sectors, looking for a Welder Fabricator to join their team on a full‑time, permanent basis near Ipswich, Suffolk.

About the role

Due to continued growth and expansion, our client is seeking an experienced Welder Fabricator to join their skilled workshop team. Working within a well‑established family‑run business, you will be involved in the fabrication of commercial vehicle bodies, lifting equipment, and associated structures for a national customer base operating across a variety of transport‑related sectors.

This is a hands‑on role offering variety, stability, and the opportunity to work on a range of bespoke projects from a fully equipped workshop environment.

Working hours: Monday to Thursday, 08:30 – 17:30 and Friday, 08:00 – 17:00.

Key Duties

  • Fabricate substructures, lifting equipment, and commercial vehicle bodies to required specifications
  • Work on a variety of fabrication projects from the company workshop
  • Interpret and work from technical drawings and project documentation
  • Ensure all work is completed accurately and to agreed project deadlines
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship, quality, and safety throughout all fabrication activities

About You

  • Minimum five years of positional MIG welding experience
  • Confidence welding a range of material thicknesses from 1mm to 20mm
  • Strong fabrication skills, good attention to detail, and the ability to work accurately from technical documentation
  • Basic mathematical and design skills
  • Reliable, self‑motivated, and capable of managing workload effectively
  • A full UK driving licence is essential
  • Must live within a commutable distance of Ipswich
