Job Overview

The Community Payback Supervisor is an operational role directly supervising work groups of offenders serving a community sentence in Southampton. The post may also involve driving service vehicles to transport people or equipment to ensure all work site supervision tasks are completed to the best of their ability.

This role requires a fixed start time of 8:00 AM and finish at 5:00 PM, including weekend shifts on Saturday and Sunday each week, with alternative weekdays to be agreed. A higher rate of 50 % is paid for weekend days worked.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage community payback work groups of offenders.
  • Drive service vehicles where necessary to transport people or equipment.
  • Ensure all work site supervision tasks are carried out to the best of the team’s ability.
  • Demonstrate good practice and support service users in completing manual tasks, including clearing overgrowth, restoring facilities, planting trees or laying flowerbeds, litter picking and graffiti removal.

Requirements

  • Must hold a full UK Manual Driving Licence; automatic licence only will not be accepted.
  • Right to work in the United Kingdom.

Working Pattern

Fixed start of 8:00 AM and finish at 5:00 PM. Weekend work is required (both Saturday and Sunday each week) with alternative weekdays to be agreed, and a higher rate of 50 % paid for weekend days worked. The role may also require evening coverage.

Salary and Progression

Starting salary: £28,064 with annual pay progression through a Competency Based Framework.
