Are you a talented storyteller who can turn ideas into engaging content?

We’re looking for a creative and curious Content Producer to join our Marketing and Communications team. This is an exciting opportunity to create content that helps shape how people see and experience Glasgow Caledonian University. Whether you’re writing for a website, producing a brochure, supporting a video project or helping bring a new campaign to life, you’ll play a key role in telling stories that connect with our audiences.

No two days are the same. One day you could be helping create brochures for an event that appeals to teenagers. The next, you could be helping showcase world‑leading research on our website, supporting a corporate project or working with colleagues to communicate the impact of our work across communities and industry.

In this role, you’ll create and manage content that supports student recruitment, marketing campaigns and wider University communications. You’ll plan, write, publish and maintain content across websites, social media, email and print, ensuring content is engaging, accessible and tailored to audience needs.

You’ll take ownership of content from initial brief through to publication and review. Working with colleagues across the University, you’ll help turn ideas into effective content while ensuring everything meets brand, accessibility and quality standards. You’ll also support colleagues to use our website CMS, templates and content standards with confidence.

This is a hands‑on role. You’ll not only create content, you’ll also publish, maintain and manage it using a range of digital platforms and systems. We’re looking for someone who is organised, adaptable and comfortable balancing multiple priorities while maintaining a high standard of work.

What you’ll be doing

  • Creating engaging content for websites, social media, email, print and other digital channels.
  • Writing and editing content for a wide range of audiences, adapting tone and style to suit different platforms.
  • Publishing and maintaining content using digital systems and content management platforms.
  • Coordinating content projects including photography, video and other creative assets.
  • Working with colleagues across the University to turn ideas into effective content.
  • Supporting colleagues to use website, digital and print templates, content management systems and content best practice.
  • Ensuring content meets University standards for brand, accessibility and quality.

We’re looking for

  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Experience creating content across multiple channels, including digital platforms.
  • The ability to explain complex topics in a clear, engaging and accessible way.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Confidence working with a range of stakeholders and building positive working relationships.
  • A willingness to learn, explore new ideas and embrace different approaches to content creation.

Experience using content management systems, social media platforms, Canva, Adobe Express or similar tools would be advantageous, but we’re more interested in your ability to create great content and your enthusiasm for developing new skills.

This role is ideal if you are looking to increase your communications and content experience, or for copywriters seeking a fixed‑term role.

This is a fixed‑term maternity cover position and an exciting time to join the University. With a new Principal, ambitious plans for the future and a strong focus on innovation and impact, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of projects while developing your own skills and experience along the way.

Get in touch – I’d be happy to speak with candidates for further discussion. Sarah Laurand – sarah.laurand@gcu.ac.uk.
