AB Composites is a specialist marine composites company in East Cowes. The company designs, manufactures, repairs and refurbishes high‑quality composite boats and marine components, working with a range of advanced materials and traditional boatbuilding techniques.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an experienced team and learn from skilled professionals while working on a variety of exciting marine projects.

AB Composites are now seeking a motivated and Apprentice Boat Builder to join their friendly team.

About the Role

As an apprentice, you’ll learn from experienced boat builders and gain valuable, practical skills in composite construction, lamination, fitting, and finishing. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who’s keen to build a career in the marine industry and work on high‑quality, custom projects.

Apprenticeship Standard

  • Boat Builder Apprenticeship Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard
  • Duration of Apprenticeship will be between 35 – 42 months
  • Functional Skills in Maths and English are required and if not previously achieved GCSE grade 4/C or above – this is mandatory requirement for this Level 3 apprenticeship
  • There is a requirement to complete off the job training for 6 hours per week, time spent either learning something new, other courses or any support work that is not in your usual role will also be counted
  • Attendance at CECAMM, The Isle Of Wight College as part of the apprenticeship

Working Week

  • Up to 40 hours per week
  • Monday – Friday
  • 07:30am – 4:00pm or 08:00am – 4:30pm (dependent on candidate)

Wage

  • £8.00 per hour
