Outreach Mentor

About the Role

Sennen Education is working with a large Specialist School that provides a specialised educational programme for children who have an Education, Health and Care Plan, specifically Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.

We are recruiting an Outreach Learning Mentor to support the emotional, social and academic development of young people, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and SEMH needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Make a difference every day by connecting with hard‑to‑reach young people through activities such as sports, music, dance and more, providing positive guidance and mentorship.
• Support mental health and well‑being by creating safe spaces for discussions around mental health and helping students overcome challenges.
• Work with SEN students, delivering tailored support that meets each student’s unique needs with empathy and respect.
• Provide pastoral support, building meaningful connections and guiding students academically and socially through trust, empathy and encouragement.
• Engage students through interactive sports, arts and creative activities that inspire and motivate participation.
• Create a safe inclusive environment, encouraging positive behaviour and helping students overcome emotional challenges.
• Mentor young people with SEN, adapting strategies to meet their specific needs.
• Deliver positive behaviour support, utilising training in positive behaviour management to de‑escalate challenging situations and cultivate resilience.

Requirements

All candidates must hold a current, enhanced DBS Disclosure. Candidates without a DBS Update Service subscription may be required to complete a new DBS application.
