We are looking for a Clean Operative to work across multiple sites in Greater Manchester and clean communal areas. Occasional out‑of‑hours may be required. A full UK driving licence is required.
The role’s purpose is to maintain high standards of cleanliness of scheme communal areas and properties by meeting agreed standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform general cleaning duties at locations including sheltered, supported and specialist living schemes, blocks of flats, communal areas and properties, following the operational cleaning specification and QA schedules. Duties include vacuuming, mopping, wiping, dusting, cleaning internal windows, frames and sills, emptying communal bins and ensuring areas are safe and properly signed off.
- Carry out ad‑hoc cleaning tasks as required and use internal software to complete work records.
- Remove discarded syringes and needles and clean hazardous substances when identified or reported (only when trained).
- Order and restock cleaning supplies and sundries as needed.
Health & Safety, Compliance checks & Minor maintenance
- Handle and use cleaning materials following COSHH regulations and wear appropriate PPE.
- Carry out H&S and compliance checks, such as water flushing, water‑temperature checks and fire‑alarm testing, as outlined in the work schedules.
- Perform daily van and equipment checks in line with H&S safe systems.
- Report repairs and carry out minor maintenance tasks, e.g. changing light bulbs.
- Attend training courses and seminars as requested.

- Skill in using different cleaning methods and equipment such as mopping, dusting, wiping and buffing.
- Ability to follow procedures to meet high standards, prioritise tasks and complete them on time.
- Willingness to cover and work in various areas and duties as requested.
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- Good customer‑service skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow procedures and provide performance data for operations.
Desirable
- Use of electronic equipment such as smartphones or iPads.
- Experience carrying out facilities checks such as water testing and alarm testing.
