Project Freight Forwarding Manager

Location: Heathrow – London

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £60,000 – £70,000

We are looking for an experienced Project Freight Forwarding Manager to manage and grow Project Cargo operations across a defined European region. This role suits a strong Project Cargo, Heavy Lift, Breakbulk, OOG, or Air Charter freight forwarding professional with experience managing complex multimodal movements across road, sea, air, rail, barge, and storage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day Project Cargo and freight forwarding operations
  • Handle Project Cargo enquiries across the European region
  • Coordinate RFQs with customers, overseas offices, and service providers
  • Manage heavy lift, breakbulk, out-of-gauge, and over-dimensional cargo movements
  • Supervise loading, discharge, and cargo handling operations
  • Oversee project documentation, customs requirements, surveys, permits, and compliance
  • Develop relationships with hauliers, ports, terminals, air charter providers, and specialist vendors
  • Support new business development within the Project Cargo sector
  • Build and maintain a strong regional Project Cargo supplier network
  • Support the development of pricing tools, operational procedures, and customer KPIs
  • Train and support branch staff on Project Cargo processes and best practice
  • Ensure all shipments are tracked correctly through internal systems
  • Promote Health & Safety standards across all project operations
  • Travel across the region when required

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Project Cargo, Project Freight Forwarding, Heavy Lift, Breakbulk, or OOG logistics
  • Experience handling over-dimensional cargo by road, sea, air, rail, barge, or storage
  • Strong knowledge of project cargo operations, documentation, permits, surveys, and customs processes
  • Experience working with ports, terminals, hauliers, shipping lines, air charter providers, and specialist logistics suppliers
  • Knowledge of Air Charter operations and contracts would be highly advantageous
  • Strong commercial awareness and business development ability
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Strong organization, problem-solving, and planning skills
  • Able to work under pressure and manage complex shipments from start to finish
  • Willingness to travel across Europe when required
  • Fluent English is required. Additional European languages would be advantageous
