About the Role

Kettering General Hospital is recruiting a Senior Nurse Practitioner for Gynaecology (Sonographer) to join its specialist Gynaecology Service.

nn

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Gynaecology Nurse with ultrasound expertise to play a key role within the Gynaecology Same Day Emergency Care (GSDEC) and Termination of Pregnancy (TOP) services. The successful candidate will provide expert clinical leadership, autonomous patient assessment, specialist ultrasound services, and support the continued development of high-quality, patient-centred care.

Key Responsibilities

    n

  • nProvide expert clinical assessment, treatment, and care planning for women accessing GSDEC and TOP servicesn
  • n

  • nUndertake autonomous ultrasound examinations and independently report findingsn
  • n

  • nSupport women through early pregnancy, gynaecological, and termination of pregnancy pathwaysn
  • n

  • nProvide specialist advice and clinical leadership to nursing and multidisciplinary teamsn
  • n

  • nManage and prioritise ultrasound referrals and clinical workloadn
  • n

  • nAct as a patient advocate, ensuring compassionate, dignified, and individualised caren
  • n

  • nSupport patient flow across gynaecology services in collaboration with inpatient and capacity teamsn
  • n

  • nContribute to governance, incident review, audit, and service improvement initiativesn
  • n

  • nSupport the development and education of junior staff and nursing colleaguesn
  • n

  • nParticipate in Gynaecology Forum and Morbidity & Mortality meetingsn

What We’re Looking For

nn

Essential

n

    n

  • nRegistered Nurse with current NMC registrationn
  • n

  • nEducated to Degree or Diploma leveln
  • n

  • nPostgraduate Certificate in Medical Ultrasound with specialist modules in Early Pregnancy and Gynaecology Ultrasoundn
  • n

  • nMinimum of 4 years’ Gynaecology nursing experiencen
  • n

  • nCompetence in diagnostic ultrasound relevant to the specialtyn
  • n

  • nEvidence of leadership and specialist clinical developmentn
  • n

  • nExcellent communication and counselling skillsn
  • n

  • nStrong organisational and workload management abilitiesn
  • n

  • nAbility to work autonomously and make sound clinical decisionsn
