About the Role
n
Kettering General Hospital is recruiting a Biomedical Scientist to join its Clinical Biochemistry Department.
nn
This is an excellent opportunity for a HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist to become part of a busy laboratory service delivering high-quality diagnostic testing and supporting patient care across the Trust. The successful candidate will rotate through all areas of the laboratory, including Automation, Manual Biochemistry, and Fetal Anomaly Screening, whilst contributing to the ongoing development of the service.

Key Responsibilities

- n
- nPerform complex biochemical analysis of clinical specimens in accordance with laboratory protocolsn
- nRotate through all sections of the Clinical Biochemistry laboratoryn
- nMonitor, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical equipmentn
- nValidate and authorise analytical results using appropriate quality control proceduresn
- nParticipate in the laboratory's 24-hour service rota, including out-of-hours dutiesn
- nSupport UKAS accreditation requirements and quality management processesn
- nMaintain accurate laboratory records and documentationn
- nProcess External Quality Assessment (EQA) samples in a timely mannern
- nSupport stock control and equipment maintenance activitiesn
- nTrain and support trainee Biomedical Scientists and Medical Laboratory Assistantsn
- nParticipate in service development, audits, and evaluation of new methodologiesn

What We’re Looking For

- nHCPC Registration as a Biomedical Scientistn
- nIBMS-accredited BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science or Healthcare Sciencen
- nPre-registration laboratory experiencen
- nKnowledge of safe handling of biological materialsn
- nStrong organisational skills and attention to detailn
- nAbility to maintain concentration whilst performing complex analytical proceduresn
- nExcellent communication and teamwork skillsn
- nUnderstanding of confidentiality and information governance requirementsn
