About the Role

University Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Group is seeking an experienced and motivated Patient Safety & Risk Midwife to join the Maternity Directorate.

This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced Midwife with a passion for patient safety, governance, and quality improvement. Working alongside the Perinatal Safety Improvement Team and senior clinical leaders, you will play a key role in developing a proactive safety culture, supporting incident investigations, managing risk processes, and driving continuous improvements in maternity services.

Key Responsibilities

- n
- nSupport the delivery of maternity quality, governance, safety, and risk management strategiesn
- nLead and support incident reporting, investigations, and learning across maternity servicesn
- nPromote compliance with national maternity safety standards, Duty of Candour requirements, and CQC regulationsn
- nAnalyse incident and risk data to identify trends and support service improvementsn
- nSupport the maintenance and development of the Trust Risk Registern
- nChair and coordinate governance meetings, risk management groups, and safety review forumsn
- nWork collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient safety outcomesn
- nSupport the implementation of national, regional, and Trust-wide patient safety programmesn
- nProvide expert advice and leadership on governance, quality improvement, and risk managementn
- nParticipate in the clinical escalation rota, providing senior leadership and decision-making supportn

What We’re Looking For

Essential
n
- n
- nRegistered Midwife with current NMC registrationn
- nDegree-level qualification or equivalentn
- nEvidence of continuing professional developmentn
- nBroad range of midwifery experience, including community experiencen
- nExperience participating in audit and quality improvement activitiesn
- nKnowledge of maternity governance, risk management, and patient safety processesn
- nStrong analytical, organisational, and communication skillsn
- nAbility to work autonomously and influence change across multidisciplinary teamsn
- nExcellent IT and report-writing skillsn

- nMaster's degree or working towardsn
