We’re looking for hands-on practical individuals with a background in farming, agricultural contracting, forestry, rural land work or general outdoor manual work who are eager to learn on the go and gain qualifications to become a Trainee Fumigation Technician.
Based in Suffolk with travel across East Anglia and UK.
Competitive salary + overtime + training + progression
A super opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual seeking a career change or entry level position to join an industry leader in fumigation as a Trainee Fumigation Technician. You will be given training from day one with a clear pathway to industry-recognised qualifications and long-term career opportunities in a specialist field. This is a chance to develop valuable, sought-after technical skills, learning and growing professionally with a highly skilled team of experts. You will build your career with a fantastic company with a successful culture built around growth, support and doing things properly.
This position is based in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.
About the role
As a Trainee Fumigation Technician, you’ll be working on specialist operations to treat and protect commodities from insect infestation. That means getting hands-on in real environments, solving real problems, and learning a highly technical skillset that very few people have.
You’ll be part of a team that travels across East Anglia and the UK, carrying out fumigation work in a wide range of settings. Some days you’ll be local, other days you’ll be travelling further afield or staying away overnight. The work is physical, varied, and highly regulated. It requires attention to detail, responsibility, and a strong safety mindset. If you’re looking for something different, practical, and genuinely interesting, this is it.
What you’ll be doing
- Assisting with fumigation treatments on a range of commodities
- Learning how to identify insect activity and understand infestation risks
- Supporting site set-up, preparation, and safety procedures
- Handling equipment and materials in line with strict compliance standards
- Travelling to sites across the region and occasionally further afield
- Working closely with experienced technicians to build your knowledge
- Communicating with customers professionally on-site
- Following detailed processes to ensure safe and effective treatments
The person
You don’t need previous experience, but you do need the right attitude.
- A genuine interest in agriculture, science, environmental work, insect biology, or pest control
- Someone who is practical and enjoys hands-on work
- Willingness to learn and develop technical knowledge
- Strong work ethic, not someone who just wants to clock in and out
- Comfortable working in a physically demanding role
- Good attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
- A team player who can also take responsibility
- Confident speaking to customers and representing the company
Essential commitments
- Regular travel across East Anglia and throughout the UK
- Occasional overnight stays
- Overtime and some out-of-hours work, especially during busy periods
- Seasonal peaks where workloads increase
- Working in a safety-critical and highly compliant environment
If this sounds like you and you are ready, motivated and enthusiastic to build a hands on, technical career we would love to hear from you.
Right to Work in UK is essential.
