Job Description hackajob is collaborating with DXC Technology to connect them with exceptional professionals for this role.n Job Description:n We are hiring Data Centre Engineers for our client based in Sevenoaks in Kent with regular attendance at Maidstone site.n This is a secure environment requiring security clearance and as a result we invite applications from UK nationals who hold or are willing to undergo SC clearance due to account requirements.n The role will involve working both dayshift/nightshift hours and we offer a generous shift allowance as a result.n Due to frequency of attendance at both sites, we require candidates who can drive and have their own transport.n Position Objective:n Visually inspect status indicators (LEDs) on Customer Equipment and report status to Customern Perform a power-cycle of an item of Customer Equipment pursuant to the detailed, written instructions provided by Customer in the Intervention Requestn Perform a visual inspection of power and cabling connectivityn Inspect all cabling for proper seating pursuant to detailed, written instructions provided by Customer in the Intervention Requestn Test cable paths for conformance with performance standards pursuant to detailed, written instructions provided by Customer in the Intervention Requestn Connect a Crash Cart (KVM) to assist diagnosis of failed reboots or power cycles pursuant to detailed, written instructions provided by Customer in the Intervention Requestn Mount media in identified drives as part of system builds or diagnosis pursuant to detailed, written instructions provided by Customer in the Intervention Requestn Activate hardware controls pursuant to detailed, written instructions provided by Customer in the Intervention Request; and Replace hot-swappable components pursuant to detailed, written instructions provided by Customer in the Intervention Request.n Functional Expertise:n · Basic understanding of IT operations in a large organisationn · Strong loyalty with regard to data and DC facility securityn · Fluency in the local language (speaking, reading and writing)n · Fluency in English (speaking, reading and writing)n · Ability to work precisely and quality orientedn · Flexibility and willingness to cope with unexpected problems and situations.n · A general technical orientationn · Competent and professional communication with a commercial attitude over the phonen · Capacity to understand and clarify customer expectations effectivelyn · Capacity to manage customer expectations and interactions effectivelyn · Basic understanding of server HW (console, devices )n · Ability to handle various types of media, devices and librariesn · Generic media knowledge (will provide training for specific or customer specific equipment)n · Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office environment and general PC hardwaren · Basic understanding of Networkingn Preferredn · Data centre operations experiencen · Familiarity with structures and processesn · Professional certification in a relative fieldn · A professional degree in a technical disciplinen Please Noten To satisfy our contractual obligations with clients, the candidate will be required to pass standard Criminal Records checks.
