Senior Locally Employed Doctor in Gastroenterology

The closing date is 20 July 2026.

The post is a 12‑month whole‑time equivalent position at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, based at Wythenshawe Hospital. The post holder works as a registrar (ST level) in the gastroenterology department, rotating equitably with other departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide endoscopic services including diagnostic and therapeutic modalities (EUS, capsule endoscopy, ERCP)
  • Assist Consultants delivering tertiary endoscopy and support learning in a supportive environment
  • Attend ward rounds and participate in acute medical on‑call rota (GIM) to acquire acute management skills
  • Participate in clinical research and audit activities
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in surgery, radiology and histopathology

Qualifications

  • GMC registration (or eligible under International Fellowship Scheme)
  • MRCP or equivalent
  • Active GMC licence to practice at time of appointment

Knowledge, Training, Skills & Attributes

  • Experience managing gastroenterology patients
  • Experience in audit and research
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Understanding of clinical management roles
  • Experience in clinical leadership
