Our nationally recognised Catastrophic Loss team at DWF (one of the largest in the UK) is recruiting an ambitious NQ – 5 year post qualified Solicitor or Associate to join their team in Manchester. The team represents a wide range of leading insurers, specialising in complex, high value cases. These cases include Catastrophic Loss, Personal Injury, Serious Injury, Road Traffic Accidents (RTAs), Employers’ Liability (EL), and Public Liability (PL) matters with claim values ranging from £150,000 to £20 million. The role is hybrid; the successful individual will attend the Manchester office a minimum of two days per week.
Responsibilities
- Handle a multi-track Catastrophic Loss and/or Personal Injury caseload, assisting senior team members on high value complex cases.
- Advise clients, including insurers and corporate clients, on liability, quantum, and litigation strategy.
- Draft documents, prepare for court, and engage in settlement negotiations.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships through excellent service delivery.
- Stay updated on legal developments in catastrophic injury and insurance law.
Essential
- 1+ PQE, preferably within defender litigation and Motor, Road Traffic Accidents (RTAs), Employers’ Liability (EL), and Public Liability (PL) case experience with values over £1m+.
- Technically experienced in and/or a real interest in Catastrophic Injury, Motor, Road Traffic Accidents (RTAs), Employers’ Liability (EL), and Public Liability (PL) work.
- Ideally experienced handling high value defendant files either in your own right, or as an assistant to more senior team members. Those with Claimant experience will also be considered.
- Familiar with working in a commercial environment.
