About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Operations Manager to join our team, based in Location. The role will require some UK travel. You will work alongside a diverse and supportive team to support the deliver the aims and objectives of our projects.

What you will do

  • Report to the Head of Solar and guide/manage Solar O&M Lead Asset Managers and Asset Managers to meet contractual deadlines and demands.
  • Ensure no LDs and provide operational excellence.
  • Guide Lead Solar Analyst and team to monitor site performance and meet contractual obligations on availability reporting.
  • Escalation point for clients for complex matters beyond normal expectations.
  • Own the BayWa r.e. portfolio of solar farms and ensure successful delivery of scope of services and client management.
  • Work with Senior Technical Operations Manager to align Asset Management, Technical/Field, and Solar analysts/monitoring teams and create necessary processes.
  • Engage team, participate in working groups with remote members.
  • Optimise overall team utilisation by empowering leaders to find solutions.
  • Set and report solar KPI’s to the Head of Solar.
  • Lead onboarding/integration of new solar assets using internal onboarding process.
  • Build relationships with senior client management and stakeholders via 1:1 meetings.
  • Standardise operations with best industry practices, compliance with legislation, and engagement with industry bodies.
  • Manage internal budgets for department costs and work with finance to raise invoicing timely.
  • Drive additional services, maximise revenues, reach financial KPIs.
  • Work with digital transformation manager to implement digital tools.
  • Support development of company processes, team engagement, communication for high service standards.
  • Create monthly meetings for team involvement and input.
  • Identify, develop, and mentor talent across the team.
  • Ensure all activities comply with UK HSE legislation, CDM Regulations, and BayWa r.e. internal policies.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Degree in a technical or commercial field (desirable).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience, at least 2 years in UK large scale solar industry, proven track record in solar asset operations.
  • Excellent line management skills and ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership skills with proven track record of leading projects and teams to successful results.
  • Extensive experience of service contracts and their technical, commercial, and legal provisions.
  • Excellent commercial insight for assessing value drivers of projects.
  • Active listener, excellent communication skills (written and spoken), proven negotiator and team player.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, structured and methodical approach.
  • Ability to remain composed under pressure, work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Suggest improvements to existing processes and implement new ones.
  • Confident communicator with solid interpersonal skills to lead a large team and build relationships with clients, suppliers, market players, stakeholders, and international teams.
  • Knowledge of solar technology, SCADA systems, technical data analysis, reporting, and monitoring of utility‑scale solar assets.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Valid driving licence required.
  • Understanding of UK HSQE legislation and valid IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
