Research Analyst – Equities

Responsibilities

• Conduct in‑depth investment fundamental analysis of specific sectors and individual stocks to monitor existing holdings and identify new trade ideas.
• Attend sell‑side analyst and company management meetings, plus broker conferences.
• Prepare detailed reports and frequently present views and recommendations to the team.
• Identify asymmetric return opportunities consistent with an absolute return mindset.
• Apply valuation techniques (e.g., DCF) with focus on downside protection.
• Stress‑test assumptions under different macro and market regimes.

Required skills and experience

• Extensive financial modelling knowledge from at least 3 years of equity research experience (sell‑side or buy‑side).
• In‑depth knowledge of at least one European equities industry sector.
• Degree‑educated (all disciplines considered).
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to multi‑task, organize and assimilate large volumes of information quickly.
• Willingness to work hard and make independent decisions.
• Microsoft Office skills – Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of Bloomberg and other market data platforms.
• Capacity to cope with pressure, setbacks and a passion for investing.

Preferred qualifications

• IMC or CFA qualified (or studying towards).

Investment focus

• Supporting portfolios within the Absolute Return Equities team.

Regulatory and compliance

• Knowledge of financial markets, market abuse and anti‑money laundering; MiFID II requirements.
• Adherence to regulatory obligations and JHI policies for the role.
