Network Security Engineer

Job Summary

A leading Managed Services and Cyber Security provider is looking to add an experienced Network Security Engineer to its growing team.

Working within a specialist Network Security function, you will provide 3rd Line support across a varied customer base, resolving complex firewall and security incidents while working alongside experienced Security Architects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong security background who enjoys troubleshooting, customer interaction and working with enterprise technologies.

Location: Belfast or Glasgow | Hybrid

Salary: £55,000 – £65,000

Key Responsibilities

• Providing 3rd Line technical support for network security incidents
• Configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting enterprise firewall solutions
• Supporting Palo Alto, Fortinet, Check Point, F5 and Juniper technologies
• Performing firewall rule reviews, policy optimisation and security hardening
• Troubleshooting VPN connectivity (IPSec & SSL VPN)
• Investigating and resolving complex network and security issues
• Working directly with customers to deliver technical solutions
• Producing technical documentation and supporting change management
• Collaborating with Security Architects on customer projects when required

Requirements

• Experience working within a Network Security or Infrastructure Security role, ideally within an MSP or customer‑facing environment
• Hands‑on experience with Palo Alto Firewalls, Fortinet, Check Point, F5, Juniper SRX
• Proficiency in TCP/IP, routing, VLANs, NAT, and VPN technologies (IPSec & SSL)
• Firewall troubleshooting and policy management skills
• Knowledge of Network Security best practices
• Security certifications such as PCNSE, NSE4/7, CCSA/CCSE or Security+ are beneficial but not essential
