We are AI-native and our tech stack is TypeScript, React, and Next.js in a modern monorepo architecture, designed to support rapid feature development and AI-assisted engineering workflows, to create an intelligent energy analyst capable of answering complex questions, surfacing insights and accelerating research.
We’re looking for a Staff Frontend Engineer to lead the frontend architecture by taking ownership of the frontend platform, shaping how engineers (and increasingly AI) build products at Modo.
The Role
- Lead the frontend architecture across our React / Next.js platform.
- Design scalable component systems and reusable UI primitives.
- Build fast, responsive interfaces capable of handling complex datasets and AI-driven workflows.
- Define engineering standards, architectural patterns and frontend best practices.
- Work closely with Product and Design to create polished, intuitive user experiences.
- Help establish AI-assisted engineering workflows across the frontend team.
- Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar across the organisation.
You will have
- Significant commercial experience building production React and Next.js applications.
- Experience working with AI products, LLMs or AI-assisted engineering workflows.
- Led frontend architecture or acted as the technical lead on complex products.
- Created elegant, maintainable frontend systems with an eye for design, UX/UI, Figma.
- Experience with Material UI or similar component libraries.
- A passion for performance, developer experience and user experience.
- Worked in fast-moving start-up or scale-up environment.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Python or backend APIs.
- Experience working with data visualisation or data-heavy applications.
- Energy sector experience is a bonus, but absolutely not essential.
