Job Description:

This is an exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team of specialised health professionals dedicated to the Aintree site complex polyp service. The role is to run the complex polyp service with support from a Nurse Endoscopist service lead. Complex polyp experience is essential.

The complex polyp service sits under the Gastroenterology Clinical Nurse Specialist team and has close links with the surgical CNS and BCSP teams.

Responsibilities

  • Management of patients requiring high‑risk complex endoscopic procedures.
  • Autonomous nurse‑led clinics, including new patient assessment, histology, site check and surveillance clinics.
  • Reviewing complex polyp referrals and listing for complex polyp MDT, referring on to other MDTs where appropriate.
  • Leading the complex polyp MDT and acting upon the outcomes, communicating these to patients and referring teams.
  • Attending SERC/SPECC MDT and acting upon the outcomes for non‑surgical patients.
  • Providing patient communication and support.

Main Duties

  • Perform specialist assessment of patients’ nursing needs, plan, implement and evaluate care delivery using advanced clinical knowledge and skills.
  • Manage a clinical caseload of patients with expert assessment, planning and evaluation.
  • Assist in the running of nurse‑led clinics within the specialty.
  • Contribute to a multi‑professional approach in the management of patients, particularly in relation to ongoing care needs and discharge arrangements.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with patients, carers and relatives.
  • Support patients and their families, ensuring they receive the necessary information to enable self‑management and participation in their care.
  • Recognise changes in patients’ condition that require intervention by others and refer appropriately.
  • Support, assist and encourage the multi‑disciplinary team in resolving patient problems through innovative case‑management models.
  • Assist in delivering high standards of patient care.
  • Work in partnership with lead clinicians, General Managers and the Matron to ensure high standards of care.
