An excellent opportunity has arisen within the London Borough of Redbridge for a highly experienced Principal Lawyer Property & Planning to join the Council to provide a comprehensive and professional legal service. You will report to the Chief Legal Officer within the Legal Department and work closely with other Council departmental clients and specialist departments.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Property & Planning Legal Team
- Provide expertise, knowledge, and advice on property and planning matters, including all landlord and tenant act matters, deeds of easement/wayleaves, collective enfranchisement, leasehold extensions, right to buy transactions, planning and other such agreements.
- Conduct the Council’s legal caseload in respect of your area of specialism and related project matters.
- Lead the Council’s most complex legal matters.
To be successful in this role you will need to
- Hold a Solicitor, Barrister, FILEX or similar legal qualification and be authorised to conduct legal work.
- Have experience of conducting legal matters in the relevant area of law.
- Have advocacy experience in relevant areas of law.
- Have experience of advising in local government or a similar environment.
- Be able to manage a team of lawyers.
