Role Information

We’re looking for a Controls Engineer to join a specialist engineering team supporting the development, maintenance and enhancement of advanced control systems. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of technically challenging projects, collaborating with internal teams, customers and suppliers to deliver reliable, high‑quality engineering solutions.

You’ll play a key role in managing control system projects, supporting service contracts and implementing product upgrades, while ensuring all work is delivered safely, efficiently and in line with company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing and coordinating control system development projects and implementing modifications to gas turbine control logic.
  • Maintaining, troubleshooting and upgrading control system hardware, including processors, I/O cards and network infrastructure.
  • Providing technical support and fault‑finding assistance to plant operations and maintenance teams.
  • Working closely with suppliers, providing technical oversight and support throughout project delivery.
  • Planning, specifying and witnessing Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).
  • Investigating process control issues, identifying root causes and delivering effective technical solutions.
  • Preparing and maintaining technical documentation, including operating manuals, test procedures and engineering reports.
  • Ensuring all engineering activities comply with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies and company procedures.
  • Supporting product upgrades, system improvements and continuous improvement initiatives across the business.

Qualifications & Experience

To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have:

  • A qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of process control principles and control system methodologies.
  • Experience with control system programming, commissioning, troubleshooting and fault diagnosis.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical data and implement effective solutions.
  • A proven ability to deliver high‑quality engineering work within agreed timescales and budgets.
  • The ability to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC).
