Our PMCM Education team is ready to hire a Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of high‑value and/or complex infrastructure projects involving multidisciplinary teams working for the Department for Education and other similar clients. To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate effective leadership and proactive management skills at both client and project level to deliver all aspects of control, with a real focus on the management of programmes, cost and quality of work being delivered internally and externally. As the Lead Consultant for the client, you will need to provide guidance and challenge proposals as they develop.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead projects from RIBA 1 to 6, providing the client with a consultancy project management service, offering advice and guidance throughout the project.
  • Develop plans and strategies to successfully deliver the project objectives.
  • Select, develop and manage the project team.
  • Identify, address and resolve differences between individuals and/or interest groups.
  • Empower and inspire others to deliver successful projects.
  • Agree contracts on behalf of the client, liaise with their legal representatives, monitor compliance and manage variances.
  • Produce Feasibility Studies, manage progress, and deliver high‑quality reports to the client.
  • Proactively manage procurement and construction phases, engage with contractors, interrogate and challenge proposals to ensure quality and value for money.
  • Monitor and report progress against agreed programmes, and agree strategies to stay on programme or implement mitigation measures when timescales vary.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record in the successful delivery of public‑sector projects, ideally with local or central government agencies, particularly in education delivery.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations applicable to infrastructure projects, including CDM regulations.
  • Experience of projects from Feasibility Study stage through to operation, including stage deliverables.
  • Experience in procurement of contractors, development of contractual documents and achieving contract close.
  • Experience leading a multi‑disciplinary team on behalf of a client and liaising with diverse specialisms.
  • Experience in developing and managing programmes, identifying issues and creating solutions to overcome time challenges.
  • Experience in identifying and managing risk and developing strategies to mitigate outcomes.
  • Experience in cost management of a project, working with QS colleagues to maintain best value while maintaining quality.
  • Chartership to MAPM, MCIOB, MRICS or equivalent is essential.
