Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary Water Team as a Senior Civil Engineer in one of our rapidly growing Scotland offices (Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth, Inverness) – whilst also taking advantage of our flexible hybrid working model. AECOM has recently been named preferred bidder for one of two Primary Designers for Scottish Water’s SR27 Enterprise. This transformational, multi‑billion‑pound programme is the highest value venture ever put into place by Scottish Water and will reshape Scotland’s water and wastewater infrastructure from 2027 to 2033 (with potential to extend for another 6 years).

AECOM will be at the heart of this ground‑breaking delivery model, shaping design excellence at scale and working with Scottish Water and our Enterprise Partners to help drive outcomes that deliver value for customers in Scotland and go beyond net zero. This is a major win for AECOM and a powerful endorsement of our expertise, giving us a fantastic opportunity to deliver long‑term, meaningful work that has large scale impact for communities across Scotland.

Responsibilities

  • Design Excellence – Produce high‑quality design work that meets client requirements and industry standards, taking responsibility for your own personal delivery and that of a wider team.
  • Project Management Awareness – Collaborate with project managers to ensure timely and cost‑effective project execution. Work with Project Manager to monitor programme performance vs baseline and identify any blockers to timely project progression.
  • Quality Assurance – Take responsibility for ensuring all work is delivered to a high standard through thorough reviews and checks to maintain quality and accuracy. Where required providing feedback to junior members of staff.
  • Team Collaboration and Communication – Take ownership of elements of project work supported by a junior staff. Act as an effective team player by contributing to a collaborative and supportive work environment while communicating effectively with team members, clients, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and clarity.
  • Health, Safety, and Environmental (SHE) Compliance – Develop Design Risk Assessments and Project SHE Plans to ensure safety and environmental considerations are integrated into all project phases.

Qualifications

  • Education Base – BEng Civil Engineering Degree (or equivalent).
  • Professional Accreditation – Actively working towards professional accreditation with a relevant body.
  • Experience – Have some experience within the water or wastewater industry.
