DMT Trucking is a specialized flatbed operation and part of the PS Logistics family of companies. We operate over 250 trucks and 375 trailers from three terminals in Starke, FL; Camden, AL; and Broken Bow, OK. Our fleet consists exclusively of 53‑foot trailers and we provide safe, reliable transportation across the eastern half of the United States. Job Description

The Director of Safety directs and manages all safety objectives and processes throughout all levels of the company, ensuring safety awareness and promoting a safety culture.

  • Manage the day‑to‑day operations of the Safety Department.
  • Manage personnel.
  • Make safety decisions.
  • Communicate daily with drivers for training or intervention.
  • Ensure all drivers are fully trained and knowledgeable of safety risks.
  • Investigate safety‑related issues (accidents, traffic violations, damages, workers’ comp claims) to ensure compliance and provide re‑education or termination as needed.
  • Manage processes for drug screening, random testing, and other insurance‑related testing.
  • Administer legal compliance with respect to OSHA, DOT, FMLA & Workers’ Comp under the direction of the COO.
  • Attend unemployment hearings or other legal proceedings regarding employment.
  • Maintain personnel files (medical, insurance, benefits).
  • Administer all employee insurance forms, including COBRA.
  • Report monthly on OSHA, life insurance, accidents, monthly staff turnover, owner‑operator physical damage, and bobtail report.
  • Oversee award selections (Driver of the Month, Safety Award, etc.) and hold quarterly safety meetings.
  • Perform reviews (OSHA, MVR, health insurance check, etc.).

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1–3 years of experience in transportation or a related field.
  • Previous safety‑related experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of Mcleod Software.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Customer‑service oriented and team oriented.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
