Senior Facilities Project Manager

Location: Harrogate, North Yorkshire

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday – 37hrs

Job Responsibilities

  • Assisting departments with the formation of briefs, chairing meetings to gather information for new project plans.
  • Arranging feasibility studies and options to visualize future growth areas and design possible solutions.
  • Driving the procurement process by preparing sketches and working drawings that contractors can use to produce finished items.
  • Writing specifications and schedules of works to translate drawing requirements into detailed task lists for contractors.
  • Preparing contract procedures and documentation, outlining terms and conditions for contractors.
  • Evaluating tenders and quotations, using competitive tendering when appropriate.
  • Day‑to‑day supervision of works to ensure compliance with specifications, tender documents, and quality of workmanship.
  • Arranging site meetings to monitor progress of works.
  • Financial control of projects, authorising payments and ensuring costs do not exceed approved budgets.
  • Maintaining site records for building services, drawings, manuals, and related information.
  • Collaborating with departmental colleagues to maintain a technical library for planning and strategy development.
  • Providing technical support to the Operations Supervisor and trades persons.
  • Supporting site operations outside normal hours in case of emergencies.

The Senior Facilities Project Manager is responsible for the delivery of all facilities projects for their designated site(s). The role collaborates closely with the site Facilities Manager and the network of UK Project Managers to ensure consistent deployment across sites while supporting diverse business needs. It also works with EHS teams to meet sustainability and health & safety targets, and develops and manages site CapEx projects aligned with strategic plans. The manager monitors and controls project budgets to maintain consistent capital spend and reliable cash‑flow forecasts.

Minimum Qualifications

  • HNC/HND in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering.
  • Degree in Construction Management.

Additional Job Standards

  • Proven supervisory experience in a project office role within facilities, construction, technical, or mechanical engineering.
  • Experience in contract negotiation and management.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Working knowledge of regulations concerning building services.
  • Understanding of building design practices for mechanical and electrical engineering and of Fast Track construction methods.
  • Knowledge of providing technical support to operations supervisors or trades persons.
  • Availability for support outside normal working hours in emergencies.
  • Understanding of energy conservation in building service installation for cost savings and pay‑back.
  • Strong problem‑solving ability and attention to detail, managing multiple changing priorities.
  • Full, clean driving licence.
