Role Overview

Devon County Council is looking for three Stakeholder Relations Officers to join our Highways Intelligence Group. The role involves helping communities, businesses, councillors and other stakeholders stay informed about highway works across Devon. Your work will build trust, reduce community impacts and support the delivery of vital infrastructure improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate engagement activities for a wide range of highway works and infrastructure projects.
  • Work closely with officers, councillors, contractors, businesses and communities to share information clearly and at the right time.
  • Identify potential stakeholder concerns and support responses to enquiries.
  • Prepare communications and contribute to a consistent, proactive approach to engagement across the service.
  • Support the delivery of projects ranging from routine maintenance to major road improvements, bridges, cycle routes and footways.
  • Explain the council’s environmental and net zero ambitions to stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records of engagement activities and stakeholder feedback.
  • Work within a small, supportive team and collaborate with technical and operational colleagues.

  • Hold a good understanding of project delivery and stakeholder engagement (no highways expertise required).

Location & Working Arrangements

The role is contractually based in Exeter but offers flexibility to work from satellite offices across North, South, East and West Devon. Hybrid working arrangements are available and can be discussed during the interview process.
