This position will be based at the Borders General Hospital (Melrose) but will require flexible work across the Scottish Borders region serving acute and primary health care facilities.
NHS Borders Estates Department is seeking an experienced Estates Officer (Energy) to lead on utilities management and the development and delivery of the Board’s long-term energy strategies, including Net Zero and decarbonisation plans.
Responsibilities
- Lead utilities management and energy strategies for the Board
- Act as the organisation’s key advisor on energy efficiency, carbon reduction and sustainability
- Ensure compliance with legislation and best practice
- Liaise with external bodies, including NHS Assure and the Scottish Government
- Manage energy-related budgets
- Provide expert advice on energy matters across projects and operations
- Serve as the Board’s main point of contact and lead for energy
- Support national level initiatives and lead on subject matter areas
Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
- Strong technical knowledge of building services and energy systems
- Ability to prioritise competing demands
- Degree or equivalent experience in energy/environmental management
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across NHS Borders sites
