Working on high‑profile regeneration programmes, you will help create thriving communities, support economic growth, deliver new homes and employment opportunities, and deliver strategic infrastructure projects that contribute to Bristol City Council’s ambition of creating a more sustainable, inclusive and prosperous city.
What will I be doing?
Working with the Head of Regeneration, you will be responsible for leading a team to play a key role in delivering Bristol City Council’s vision for inclusive and sustainable growth, ensuring that the benefits of regeneration are shared by communities across the city.
Working closely with elected members, council services, developers, landowners, investors, community organisations, neighbouring authorities and external partners, you will lead the development and delivery of complex regeneration programmes from inception through to completion.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the development and delivery of strategic regeneration programmes and major planning applications that support Bristol’s economic, environmental and social objectives.
- Working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders to develop project proposals, build consensus and drive delivery.
- Identifying, securing and managing funding opportunities to maximise investment in regeneration priorities across the city.
- Preparing and coordinating high‑quality funding bids, business cases and grant applications to Government departments, funding bodies and investment partners.
- Procuring and managing consultants, contractors and development partners to achieve best value and deliver successful project outcomes.
- Managing project budgets, risks, governance processes and programme performance.
- Ensuring projects deliver social value, sustainability objectives and positive outcomes for local communities.
- Managing the development of regeneration, development and investment strategies across the city.
What do I need?
- A passion for placemaking and creating vibrant, inclusive and sustainable places where people want to live, work and visit.
- A commitment to collaboration, partnership working and community engagement to deliver meaningful and lasting regeneration outcomes.
- Experience in a relevant field such as regeneration, economic development, housing, development, infrastructure or capital project delivery.
- Experience of leading and managing a team.
- A strong track record of leading and delivering complex projects and programmes involving multiple stakeholders.
- Experience of identifying, securing and managing external funding for regeneration, housing, infrastructure or economic development projects.
- Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and partnerships.
- Strong financial and commercial awareness, including budget management, funding compliance and project appraisal.
- Experience of procurement processes and the management of consultants, contractors and delivery partners.
- Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities, risks and resources effectively.
- The ability to operate confidently within a complex political, organisational and partnership environment.
