Summary

We’re looking for a Project Officer to develop and deliver advisory and support services for the Nature Towns and Cities programme. The position supports integration and knowledge sharing within the National Trust and aligns with other place‑based urban programmes.

What you’ll be doing

  • Support the approximately 50 UK towns and cities and 200 community organisations that are part of the Nature Towns and Cities initiative.
  • Build relationships with people leading change in cities and towns across the UK.
  • Act as the first point of contact for places and people seeking support, managing day‑to‑day communication between the programme and stakeholders.
  • Co‑ordinate the deployment of experts, advisers and external consultants to embed nature into the urban fabric.
  • Facilitate effective sharing across the programme and the National Trust.
  • Plan and deliver support, training and learning offerings; maintain accurate records and analyse feedback.
  • Lead the monitoring of budgets and maintain accurate timelines.

This role is hosted by the National Trust and works across the Nature Towns and Cities Coalition.

Who we’re looking for

We welcome applications from people with a wide range of experience, particularly those who can build strong relationships with partners, undertake service design and lead multi‑disciplinary teams.

Key qualifications and experience

  • Proven experience managing small projects (~£25,000).
  • Interest in at least two of the seven topics: urban nature, green infrastructure, urbanism, climate resilience, health, community or other related field.
  • Knowledge of local government and the urban operating environment.
  • Knowledge of partnership development and delivery.
  • A creative, collaborative and entrepreneurial approach to problem solving.
  • Experience managing budgets and timelines.
  • A commitment to inclusive and equitable ways of working.
