Overview

As a Data Center Manager at Amazon, you will manage the world’s largest cloud computing infrastructure, innovate solutions to complex challenges, and drive operations excellence across all areas of your role.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and developing high‑performing teams of technicians while providing technical leadership to ensure the highest performance levels.
  • Maintaining existing co‑located and in‑house data centers.
  • Helping build and bring new data centers online.
  • Constantly improving all processes and procedures to achieve operational excellence.
  • Assisting and managing relationships with external vendors and contractors.
  • Liaising with internal teams and management groups.
  • Ensuring adherence to and exceeding local health and safety standards in all data centers.
  • Creating and maintaining metrics on all aspects of data centers and utilizing those metrics to drive positive changes.
  • Assisting in implementing service management methodologies, including incident, problem, change, and capacity management.
  • Driving performance levels to meet the pace required to build and operate data centers.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of people management experience within an IT environment.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of change, problem, and incident management.
  • Understanding of financial budgeting, CapEx and OpEx concepts.
  • Experience in systems administration (Linux or Windows).
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma tools, Lean techniques, PMP or similar standards preferred.
  • Experience working in data centers or critical infrastructure.
  • Experience in one or more IT infrastructure domains: storage, compute, networking, security, software development, systems administration, database engineering or administration, machine learning, cloud infrastructure, big data, DevOps, or other IT infrastructure domain.
  • Experience in safety and security measures, ITIL foundation.
