Overview
As a Data Center Manager at Amazon, you will manage the world’s largest cloud computing infrastructure, innovate solutions to complex challenges, and drive operations excellence across all areas of your role.
Responsibilities
- Managing and developing high‑performing teams of technicians while providing technical leadership to ensure the highest performance levels.
- Maintaining existing co‑located and in‑house data centers.
- Helping build and bring new data centers online.
- Constantly improving all processes and procedures to achieve operational excellence.
- Assisting and managing relationships with external vendors and contractors.
- Liaising with internal teams and management groups.
- Ensuring adherence to and exceeding local health and safety standards in all data centers.
- Creating and maintaining metrics on all aspects of data centers and utilizing those metrics to drive positive changes.
- Assisting in implementing service management methodologies, including incident, problem, change, and capacity management.
- Driving performance levels to meet the pace required to build and operate data centers.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of people management experience within an IT environment.
- In-depth knowledge and experience of change, problem, and incident management.
- Understanding of financial budgeting, CapEx and OpEx concepts.
- Experience in systems administration (Linux or Windows).
- Knowledge of Six Sigma tools, Lean techniques, PMP or similar standards preferred.
- Experience working in data centers or critical infrastructure.
- Experience in one or more IT infrastructure domains: storage, compute, networking, security, software development, systems administration, database engineering or administration, machine learning, cloud infrastructure, big data, DevOps, or other IT infrastructure domain.
- Experience in safety and security measures, ITIL foundation.
