Apply for the Project Engineer – R&D
Location: Gaydon
Job Description:

Seals Project Engineer

Gaydon, Warwickshire | Hybrid

Some engineering roles focus on individual components. This one is about making sure everything works together.

As a Seals Project Engineer, you will play a central role in the development of our next‑generation vehicles, leading the design, delivery, and performance of sealing systems from concept through to production. Working at the heart of Body Engineering, you will be responsible for ensuring your commodities achieve demanding targets for quality, cost, timing and functional performance while collaborating with designers, suppliers, manufacturing teams and programme stakeholders across the business.

This role is for someone who enjoys ownership. You will lead engineering releases, drive commodity strategies, manage critical interfaces, and take responsibility for ensuring sealing systems meet performance requirements through both simulation and physical validation. From supporting early concept development to resolving complex build and launch concerns, you will be a key technical voice throughout the vehicle development cycle.

You will coordinate suppliers and internal teams, lead design and assembly reviews, manage failure‑prevention activities including DFMEA and lessons‑learnt processes, and ensure robust engineering solutions are delivered on time. You will also support manufacturing feasibility, drive root‑cause investigations, develop engineering specifications, and provide technical direction across both internal and external CAD resources.

We are looking for someone with significant experience within sealing systems engineering, ideally within the automotive sector, who is comfortable operating in fast‑paced pre‑production and launch environments. You should have a strong understanding of sealing design, manufacturing techniques and relevant legislation, coupled with the ability to influence stakeholders and communicate effectively across organisational levels.

Experience with Failure Mode Avoidance methodologies is highly desirable, while knowledge of NX and AML AMPCS processes would be an advantage. Most importantly, you should enjoy solving problems, take a proactive approach, learn quickly, and thrive while balancing multiple priorities and challenging deadlines.

You will join a talented team responsible for developing body structures, closures, glazing and sealing systems that contribute directly to the quality, refinement and performance of some of the world’s most desirable vehicles.
