Overview
Our client is seeking a Data Analyst to support a major heritage data initiative focused on the management, preservation, and accessibility of specialist geospatial datasets. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on a nationally significant research programme, helping transform how digital heritage data is managed, analysed, and made available for future research and public engagement.
The successful candidate will work with complex drone-derived geospatial datasets, ensuring data quality, consistency, accessibility, and compliance with established data governance and archival standards.
Responsibilities
Data Management & Analysis
- Collect, clean, standardise, and prepare large geospatial datasets for long-term preservation and future use.
- Analyse drone-derived data, including photogrammetry, LiDAR, and other remote sensing datasets.
- Validate and quality-check datasets to ensure accuracy, consistency, and usability.
- Support the preparation of datasets for archiving and public access.
Data Governance & Compliance
- Assess data sensitivity, licensing requirements, and metadata standards.
- Ensure datasets comply with archive, governance, and preservation requirements.
- Maintain data quality and integrity throughout the data lifecycle.
- Support best practice approaches to data management and stewardship.
Reporting & Insight Generation
- Organise and structure data to support future research, analysis, and decision‑making.
- Contribute to the accessibility and reuse of data for research, heritage management, and public engagement.
- Assist stakeholders in understanding and utilising complex geospatial information.
- Support data documentation and metadata creation to enhance discoverability and usability.
Project Support
- Manage multiple data preparation and archiving activities within project timelines.
- Collaborate with research, data, and archive stakeholders to support project objectives.
- Contribute to the successful delivery of a fixed‑term data transformation programme.
Requirements
- Degree‑level qualification or equivalent experience in Data Analytics, Data Management, Geospatial Science, GIS, Archaeology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
- Experience working with complex datasets and data preparation processes.
- Knowledge of geospatial datasets, including photogrammetry, LiDAR, remote sensing, or similar data sources.
- Experience in data management, data quality assurance, or digital archiving.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to organise, prioritise, and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Experience working within research, archive, heritage, environmental, or data‑focused environments is advantageous.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Salary of £32,616 pro rata.
