Senior Software Developer – Job Spec

Job TitleSenior Developer

LocationOffice based – Just off M1 between Leeds and Sheffield

RolePermanent – Software Developer

Remuneration£45K to £60K, dependant on experience and ability + pension + performance related bonus

ExperienceMust have a minimum of 8 years, full time experience, writing code in a commercial environment, and ideally have some experience of managing a small team

The role involves joining a dynamic team of development engineers working on bespoke manufacturing equipment from new state of the art premises just off the M1 between Sheffield and Leeds. The role will require a blend of hands-on code writing, testing and debugging focussed on the robust design and implementation of new and ongoing development software projects. Any applicant should be excited by the opportunity to complete a full range of developments.

Responsibilities

  • Working with a small team following agile practises to allow rapid development and customer satisfaction
  • Researching, designing, implementing and managing software programmes from initial concept through to final deployment
  • Testing and evaluating new and existing programmes
  • Ensuring the usability and practicality of applications
  • Maintaining and upgrading existing software systems
  • Completing feasibility assessments to enhance system functionality or performance including reviews of cross platform migrations

Essential Skills

  • C#
  • Visual Studio / vb.NET
  • SQL Server/ MySql
  • Jira work management (or similar)
  • Git

Additional Skills / Experience That Would Be Beneficial Include

  • OpenCV/ Emgu CV
  • Handing / transferring between devices image and/or video files
  • Working with IP vision cameras
  • Understanding of Python would be useful
  • Rabbit MQ
  • Jira work management (or similar)
  • Git
  • Testing and evaluating new and existing programmes
  • Some familiarity with C++ and working in a Linux Environment would be useful, but not a requirement

Personal Skills

  • Evidence of strong fault finding and error correction skill
  • Solid/robust testing methodology
  • I.T literate
  • Familiarity with both Windows and Linux

Applicants will work closely with the Software Engineering Manager, working in conjunction with them to ensure the team delivers on a wide range of projects, developing new products and enhancing existing ones. A passion for software, developing new skills and working on actual innovative products will be essential. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic and a good attention for detail.
