Summary
The Network & Infrastructure Engineer plays a key role in supporting, maintaining, and enhancing Olympia’s network and infrastructure estate. The role is responsible for the day-to-day operation of both event technology platforms and corporate infrastructure, ensuring highly available, secure, and high-performing services across the venue. Working closely with the IT Network & Infrastructure Manager, the engineer will support the delivery of connectivity services for events while maintaining the core technology platforms that underpin Olympia’s business operations.
Responsibilities
- Support and deliver network connectivity services for exhibitions, conferences, live events, and entertainment productions.
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot wired, wireless, internet, and event-specific networking solutions.
- Provide on-site technical support during event build, live operations, and breakdown periods.
- Maintain and administer corporate network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, firewalls, switches, routers, servers, storage, virtualisation, backup, and cloud platforms.
- Monitor infrastructure performance, proactively resolve issues, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Deliver 2nd and 3rd line support for network and infrastructure incidents, changes, and service requests.
- Perform routine maintenance, patching, upgrades, and health checks.
- Support cyber security initiatives, including firewall management, access controls, vulnerability remediation, security monitoring, and disaster recovery testing.
- Contribute to infrastructure and networking projects, technology upgrades, and business transformation initiatives.
- Identify and recommend improvements to system performance, resilience, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Experience supporting enterprise network and infrastructure environments.
- Strong knowledge of networking technologies, including wired/wireless networks, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with switches, routers, firewalls, wireless infrastructure, Microsoft server/cloud technologies, and virtualisation platforms.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.
- Familiarity with IT service management processes and cybersecurity best practices.
- Experience with Cisco, Aruba, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Azure, Microsoft 365, network monitoring tools, SD-WAN, and high-density Wi-Fi environments is advantageous.
- Experience supporting event venues, exhibitions, hospitality, stadiums, arenas, or other large public-facing environments is desirable.
- Relevant degree, apprenticeship, equivalent experience, or industry certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, Aruba, Fortinet, Azure, ITIL.
