Own the network at a global technology business, from home
£65,000 – £72,000 | Work from Home | East London DC when required
Our client is a well-established global technology business operating internet content and security platforms for organisations across the world. They’re looking for a Senior Network Engineer to be the go‑to technical authority on the network — designing, delivering, supporting, and mentoring junior engineers on a small, focused team.
This is a work‑from‑home role with DC visits to East London when the work requires it. Cisco and Palo Alto are the primary vendors. The role spans routing and switching, network security, wireless, cloud networking, and Linux — a genuine all‑rounder position for someone who’s built broad, deep expertise and wants to use all of it.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Design, deliver, and support a hybrid network spanning on‑premises, data centre, and cloud environments
- Act as the senior SME and escalation point — the person who solves what nobody else can
- Configure and manage routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, and QoS across the estate
- Monitor performance, manage capacity, and proactively identify risks before they become incidents
- Lead network security — firewall management (Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet), IPSec VPN, and security policy compliance
- Support automation and deployment tooling — Ansible, Python, bash scripting
- Provide tier 2/3 troubleshooting support and participate in on‑call rotation
- Guide and mentor junior network engineers — design reviews, knowledge sharing, and hands‑on support
- Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, and configuration records
TECH STACK
- Cisco | Palo Alto | Fortinet
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

- Solid routing and switching fundamentals: BGP, OSPF, subnetting, TCP/IP, OSI model
- Hands‑on firewall experience — Palo Alto, Fortinet, and/or Linux firewall management
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and containerised network environments
- Familiarity with automation tooling — Ansible, Python, bash
- Experience with hybrid cloud networking — Azure preferred
- Strong communicator who can mentor junior engineers and engage clearly with stakeholders
- Must reside within 1 hour of East London — DC visits required when the work demands it
- Professional certifications preferred — CCNP, CCIE, Palo Alto PCNSE, or equivalent
THE PACKAGE
- Work from home as the primary working arrangement
- East London data centre visits as and when required

WHY THIS ROLE STANDS OUT
- True all‑rounder scope — routing, security, wireless, cloud, and Linux all in one role
