Purpose of the role
MEICA professionals who are passionate about improving the reliability, resilience, and performance of water and wastewater assets. You will help the UK’s leading water companies transform how they operate and maintain their asset base – from treatment works and pumping stations to ICA systems and network infrastructure. Your work will support water companies in meeting regulatory obligations, achieving PR24/PR29 outcomes and delivering better outcomes for customers and the environment.
Responsibilities

- Define criticality, service levels and risk‑based interventions in line with Ofwat expectations, resilience metrics and company commitments.
- Act as a trusted advisor to Water & Wastewater leadership teams, providing evidence‑based recommendations on investment, performance improvement and operational risk.
- Build strong relationships with Operations, Maintenance, Asset Strategy, Engineering and Capital Delivery teams.
- Develop KPIs and dashboards that reflect industry needs: customer interruption risk, environmental compliance, asset reliability, TOTEX impact and serviceability.
- Apply reliability engineering, MEICA and data analytics to reduce unplanned outages, improve availability and optimise maintenance.
- Support the adoption of digital telemetry, condition monitoring, treatment process analytics, predictive maintenance tools and SCADA integration.
- Design Asset Health Matrices for treatment, pumping, rotating machinery, ICA and critical network assets, integrating operational data, work orders, compliances and telemetry signals.
- Analyse CMMS/EAM datasets to uncover trends, root causes of downtime and non‑compliance risks, forecast deterioration and recommend optimised PM strategies, spares policies and refurbishment plans.
- Develop risk‑based investment plans aligned with environmental compliance, service resilience and PR24/PR29 outcomes; support scenario modelling and prepare options appraisals for executive review and regulatory scrutiny.
- Map maintenance and asset decisions to regulatory frameworks such as Ofwat, DWI and the Environment Agency, and support ISO 55001 alignment and audit readiness.
Qualifications
- Proven record of improving availability, reliability and performance of water/wastewater assets.
- Extensive MEICA experience in treatment works, pumping systems, ICA/SCADA and process‑critical infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of water‑sector regulatory drivers, compliance obligations and service performance metrics.
- Skilled in interpreting CMMS/EAM data and leading structured maintenance/RCM processes.
- Advanced analytical capabilities for identifying failure modes and reliability trends.
- Confident communicator able to translate complex engineering or analytical insights into clear operational and commercial recommendations.
