Band 6 Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist – Urgent Care & Frailty Team at Northampton General Hospital, part of the University Hospitals of Northamptonshire.
Contract: Fixed‑term 12 months; part‑time 22.5 hours per week; secondments may be considered.
Responsibilities
- Deliver a quality Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy service, including assessment, intervention and discharge planning for patients with diverse and complex needs.
- Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team – Nurses, Medics, Therapy Technical Instructors, discharge team and other therapists – to provide a patient‑centred service.
- Lead the new preceptorship programme, delivering boot‑camp training for preceptees and contributing to service development projects.
- Supervise Band 5 staff and Therapy Technical Instructor colleagues, providing clinical support and guidance.
- Participate in staff development, audit and service improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Registration with the relevant professional body (OT or PT).
- Previous experience in acute medicine, care of the elderly, respiratory and orthopaedics (or similar specialties). Broad experience across a range of specialties is beneficial.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced, pressured environment.
- Enthusiastic attitude, forward‑thinking and problem‑solving approach to patient management.
