Job Description

We are a new and ambitious organisation dedicated to providing exceptional residential care for children and young people. Building on our parent company’s strong national reputation for high‑quality accommodation and support for care leavers, we are expanding into the children’s homes sector —combining operational excellence with a compassionate, forward‑thinking approach.

We are preparing to open our first Ofsted‑registered children’s home in Streatham, supporting up to four children aged 8–18 with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).

We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and visionary Registered Manager to lead this exciting new venture from the ground up —someone who is eager to shape a home that delivers truly life‑changing outcomes for young people.

Your Role

As Registered Manager, you will take full operational and regulatory responsibility for the home — leading it through its pre‑registration phase with Ofsted, through to launch and ongoing delivery of high‑quality care.

  • Lead the Ofsted registration process in partnership with the Responsible Individual, Director, and consultant.
  • Develop the Statement of Purpose, Children’s Guide, and Policies and Procedures in line with Children’s Homes Regulations (2015) and Quality Standards.
  • Ensure the property, environment, and staffing structure fully meet all Ofsted and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish robust frameworks for safeguarding, supervision, care planning, and quality assurance.
  • Oversee the recruitment and safer recruitment checks for all staff.
  • Prepare for Ofsted interviews and ensure the home is fully compliant and ready for registration.
  • Lead the home’s daily operations, ensuring compliance with Ofsted standards and company values.
  • Provide strong leadership and direction to your team, fostering a culture of high‑quality, child‑centred care.
  • Oversee individual care plans, ensuring they reflect each child’s unique needs and progress.
  • Maintain a safeguarding‑first culture with clear accountability across all staff.
  • Drive continuous improvement to achieve and sustain Good or Outstanding Ofsted outcomes.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with children, families, local authorities, and partner agencies.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant records across all operational areas.

Requirements

We’re looking for a dynamic leader who blends empathy with excellence, and who thrives on building something meaningful from the ground up.

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Registered Manager in an Ofsted‑registered children’s home (EBD or similar).
  • Proven track record of achieving Good or Outstanding Ofsted ratings.
  • Strong understanding of Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards (2015).
  • Robust safeguarding knowledge and ability to implement effective systems and processes.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
  • Experience supporting children with EBD, trauma, or attachment difficulties.
  • Previous involvement in registering or setting up a new children’s home.

We believe that great leaders deserve great rewards. Joining Expedius Care means being part of an ambitious, forward‑thinking organisation where your input truly shapes the future.

  • Annual performance‑based bonus
  • Opportunity to build and lead your own team from the ground up
  • Professional development and leadership training to support your career growth
  • Flexible working options (full‑time or part‑time)
  • Chance to create an Outstanding‑rated home and set the standard for excellence in care
