Senior Digital & Social Content Manager (12-Month Maternity Cover)

About the Company

We are a leading UK FMCG business with a portfolio of some of the country’s most recognised household food brands. The organisation is the market leader across multiple categories, with a collection of iconic brands that feature in millions of UK homes every day.

As the business continues to invest heavily in brand growth and digital capability, this is an exciting opportunity to join a high‑performing marketing team and play a key role in shaping the digital future of an outstanding portfolio of brands.

The Opportunity

Our client is looking for a highly creative, strategically minded and digitally fluent Senior Digital & Social Content Manager to lead the social and digital presence of a portfolio of leading consumer brands on a 12-month maternity cover contract.

This role is responsible for developing and delivering best‑in‑class organic and paid social strategies, leading creative development and overseeing performance marketing across multiple digital channels. Working closely with brand teams, creative agencies and internal stakeholders, you’ll ensure the brands remain culturally relevant, creatively distinctive and commercially effective.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys combining strategic thinking with hands‑on creativity and is equally comfortable developing social‑first strategies, creating engaging content, analysing performance and leading agencies and internal teams to deliver exceptional work.

You’ll also oversee an annual digital media and content budget of approximately £1 million and lead a small in‑house team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver innovative digital and social media strategies across a portfolio of leading consumer brands.
  • Lead the creation of social‑first content strategies that drive engagement, brand relevance and advocacy.
  • Oversee creative development across both organic and paid social campaigns.
  • Manage an annual digital and social budget of approximately £1 million.
  • Work with media and creative agency partners to optimise campaign performance and maximise ROI.
  • Lead paid social activity across key platforms, ensuring campaigns deliver against agreed KPIs.
  • Drive a strong test‑and‑learn approach to creative development and media optimisation.
  • Guide the creation of platform‑native content across Instagram, TikTok, Meta, YouTube, Pinterest and emerging channels.
  • Stay ahead of digital trends, platform developments and changing consumer behaviours.
  • Use consumer insights, social listening and performance data to inform strategy and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with cross‑functional marketing teams to deliver integrated campaigns aligned with commercial objectives.
  • Manage agency relationships to ensure consistently high‑quality strategic and creative output.
  • Lead, coach and develop a small team consisting of Content Managers and a Paid Media Manager.
  • Champion digital excellence and inspire the wider marketing team with new ideas and best practice.

About You

You’ll bring:

  • Significant experience leading digital and social marketing for leading consumer or FMCG brands.
  • A strong track record of developing engaging, social‑first content strategies.
  • Excellent knowledge of paid social, digital marketing and performance optimisation.
  • Experience managing sizeable media budgets and agency relationships.
  • Strong leadership experience with the ability to coach and develop teams.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of content creation tools and social editing platforms.
  • Strong commercial awareness and confidence interpreting campaign data and turning insights into action.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • A passion for digital innovation, creativity and consumer culture.

The Offer

  • 12-month maternity cover contract.
  • Hybrid working with offices in either London or Reading, with up to three days working from home each week.
  • Opportunity to work on some of the UK’s most recognisable food brands within a market‑leading FMCG business.
  • A collaborative, ambitious and creative marketing environment where digital is a key driver of future growth.
