Equans is looking for a Shift Electrical Engineer to join our team at Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH) in Smethwick. This is a full‑time role working 40.25 hours per week, on a shift rota of 2 days on (7am‑7pm), 2 nights on (7pm‑7am), and 4 days off. Salary band £32,000‑£35,000 per annum, plus shift allowance and benefits package.

What will you deliver?

  • Undertake proactive response to reactive jobs, diagnosing, fault finding and repairing complex mechanical systems in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures and legislation.
  • Respond to BMS alerts and phone calls during night shift, acting as the initial point of contact, assessing issues, allocating tasks to appropriate team members, completing necessary documentation and handing records over to the Helpdesk team at shift start.
  • Obtain Competent Person status for systems such as low‑voltage electrical systems, access control, alarm, and medical gas installations following training and instruction.
  • Act as an Authorised Person after appropriate training and familiarisation.
  • Work on emergency lighting, nurse calls, general electrics, fire alarms and related systems.

Who are you?

  • City and Guilds levels 2 and 3
  • AM2
  • 18th Edition
  • Previously worked within a maintenance environment
  • Experience in a healthcare maintenance environment (desirable)
  • Proof of DBS Standard check eligibility (essential)
