Role Description
The Air Conditioning Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Shaftesbury. The engineer will install, maintain, and repair air conditioning and HVAC systems in domestic and commercial settings, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operation. Daily tasks include diagnosing faults, carrying out routine servicing and planned preventative maintenance, performing system upgrades, and responding to reactive call-outs. The role involves completing accurate job reports, liaising with customers to explain work carried out, and coordinating with the wider engineering team and subcontractors to deliver projects on time. The engineer is expected to follow health and safety procedures, maintain tools and equipment, and contribute to continuous improvement of service standards.
Qualifications
- Strong technical skills in air conditioning and HVAC systems, including installation, fault-finding, repair, and servicing.
- Experience with mechanical and heating systems, and familiarity with associated gas and plumbing components.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards, health and safety regulations, and best practices in maintenance and compliance.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and specifications for air conditioning and mechanical systems.
- Effective communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to clients and colleagues.
- Good time management, organization, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Recognized qualification in air conditioning or HVAC engineering (e.g., NVQ or equivalent) and valid professional certifications where applicable.
- Full valid driving license and willingness to travel to customer sites in and around Shaftesbury.
- Previous experience in domestic and commercial environments; experience within a multi‑disciplinary mechanical and heating company is an advantage.
