Role Description
This is a full-time Geotechnical Engineer role based between Coventry-Leeds, with a hybrid working arrangement that allows some work from home. The Geotechnical Engineer will plan and execute site investigations, supervise field crews, and oversee drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing activities. Day-to-day responsibilities include logging soils and rocks, interpreting ground conditions, preparing factual and interpretative geotechnical reports, and contributing to foundation and ground improvement design. The role will involve liaising with clients and internal teams, ensuring that investigations meet project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. The Geotechnical Engineer will also support project planning, data analysis, and quality control, while helping develop best practices within the growing team.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated competence in site investigation, including planning, supervision, and reporting
- Strong understanding of soil behavior and properties relevant to geotechnical assessment
- Knowledge and practical experience in geotechnical engineering and engineering geology
- Ability to contribute to foundation design and related geotechnical solutions
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, or a related discipline
- Experience with UK ground investigation standards, codes of practice, and health and safety requirements
- Proficiency in geotechnical software and data analysis tools (e.g., for settlement, slope stability, or bearing capacity assessment)
- Effective communication skills for reporting, client interaction, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Full UK driving license and willingness to travel to sites across the UK as required
- Professional membership or working toward chartership (e.g., ICE, Geological Society) is an advantage
