Engineering Manager in Robertsbridge, East Sussex

About the role

Engineering Manager responsible for mechanical and electrical functions at the Robertsbridge Plant in East Sussex. This full‑time position runs Monday to Friday, with flexibility required for occasional after‑hours work. The role focuses on performance management, works planning, and applying WCM principles to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for health and safety and ensuring work is carried out to the highest standard.
• Identify and maintain parts inventory.
• Apply analytical skills to problem solving and decision making, and communicate clearly with stakeholders.
• Plan schedules of work and coordinate electrical and mechanical teams to meet maintenance and machinery reliability requirements.
• Represent the engineering function in meetings with the Site Leadership Team and other stakeholders, and influence, challenge and negotiate where appropriate.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma level qualification (or equivalent) in a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering discipline.
• Previous experience as an Engineering Manager in a comparable environment.
• Strong and demonstrable experience in managing maintenance of critical assets in a heavy industrial application.
• Leadership skills to inspire and develop the team towards consistent performance improvement.
• Experience managing budgets and CAPEX, as well as high‑value equipment purchase (including pre‑procurement due diligence).
• Experience identifying, planning and leading continuous improvement projects; WCM experience is advantageous.
