Overview

Pod is one of the UK’s leading electric vehicle charging providers, now part of the EDF family and recently expanded by acquiring EO Charging. The company focuses on powering commercial fleets and optimizing charging performance across the UK, with a strong emphasis on reliability and customer service.

Compensation

£55,000 – £58,000 per year plus on‑call payment.

Location

Remote/Field Based.

Responsibilities

  • Support end‑to‑end project delivery, from conception to commissioning, including site surveys, scope creation, and material coordination.
  • Install AC and DC EV chargers in compliance with BS 7671 regulations, conduct commissioning, produce documentation, and manage handovers with clients, OEMs, and contractors.
  • Execute planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs, diagnose faults, identify root causes, and implement durable solutions to maximize uptime.
  • Respond to service tickets, perform diagnostics with appropriate tools, and resolve issues across commercial locations nationwide.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical and safety regulations, follow QMS processes, conduct installation checks, produce snagging reports, and maintain accurate records using digital tools and CMMS systems.
  • Collaborate closely with the Electrical Supervisor, Lead Field Engineer, helpdesk, and wider delivery teams, and maintain clear communication with customers.
  • Provide feedback on recurring technical issues to drive continuous improvement across products, systems, and delivery processes.
  • Participate in the 24x7x365 on‑call engineering coverage, including technical support, customer interaction, documentation, and safety compliance.

What You’ll Bring – Core Qualifications

  • Level 3 NVQ or City & Guilds in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations, BS 7671.
  • Industry card (ECS or CSCS).
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Strong experience in commercial or industrial electrical systems.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, technical documentation, and fault codes.
  • Experience installing and maintaining AC and DC EV chargers.
  • Knowledge of charging protocols such as OCPP and Modbus.
  • Familiarity with network connectivity, cellular, and wireless systems.
  • Service and delivery mindset, ability to manage multiple priorities, and strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and confident stakeholder engagement.
  • Proactive, organised, solution‑focused, and comfortable working independently and within a regional team.
  • Customer‑obsessed, with a focus on quality and experience.
  • Committed to maintaining high professional and ethical standards.

Bonus Skills

  • Inspection and testing qualification.
  • C and G 2919 EV installation.
  • OEM‑specific EV charger certifications.
  • Experience with DC rapid chargers from manufacturers such as ABB, Zerova, Kempower, or Alpitronic.
  • High‑voltage DC experience.
  • Knowledge of EV back‑office systems and remote diagnostics platforms.
  • Understanding of network architecture and charger‑to‑cloud communication.
  • Experience with CMMS, ticketing, or helpdesk systems.
  • Awareness of network‑related fault troubleshooting.
