The Role
We are looking for a Senior Garden Designer or Landscape Architect to join the studio as a key member of the team. This is a project‑leading role, not a support role. You will manage commissions from initial client brief through concept, detailed design, and construction, with direct client contact and genuine creative ownership. You will work collaboratively with Ann‑Marie and the rest of the team throughout, contributing to the studio’s culture as much as its output.
What You Will Be Doing
- Leading projects end‑to‑end, from site analysis and concept development through to detailed design, specification, and on‑site delivery
- Acting as the primary point of contact for clients, managing relationships with professionalism, warmth, and confidence
- Producing the full range of design documentation: concept presentations, masterplans, planting plans, construction drawings, and specifications
- Collaborating closely with Ann‑Marie, the studio team, architects, contractors, heritage experts, planning consultants, ecologists and specialist suppliers
- Mentoring junior team members and contributing to the wider studio culture
- Contributing to studio development, including design reviews and quality standards
What We Are Looking For
- Degree or postgraduate qualification in Garden Design, Landscape Architecture, or equivalent
- Minimum five years’ experience in private residential or high‑end commercial practice
- Exceptional planting knowledge, with the ability to produce detailed, season‑aware planting schemes
- Strong technical skills and the ability to produce accurate, complete construction drawings
- Confident client manner and proven experience managing relationships independently
- Proficiency in Vectorworks is preferred but we will consider those applicants who have worked in AutoCAD
- Experience in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
- Organised, self‑directed, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Full UK driving licence and own vehicle (site visits are a regular part of the role)
- Applicants must be based in the UK with no requirement for visa sponsorship
- Chartered status (CMLI) or working towards it
- Experience working on listed or heritage sites
- Lumion or equivalent visualisation software
- Knowledge of biodiversity net gain principles and ecological planting
What We Offer
- Salary: Negotiable, commensurate with experience
- Company profit share scheme: You share in what we build together
- Private health insurance (following probation period)
- Ongoing CPD and professional development support
Ann‑Marie Powell Gardens Limited welcomes applications from candidates of all backgrounds. We are committed to building an inclusive team that reflects the diversity of the communities and landscapes we work in.
